A Voice for Uganda's Land Rights
The Bibanja National Owners' Forum (BINOF) is a membership-based Land Sector Bridging Forum, limited by guarantee, that brings bibanja-holders (bonafide occupants) and land titleholders (landlords) together to a negotiation round-table to amicably resolve land disputes and curb land fraud in Uganda.
BINOF operates as a bridge — connecting communities, government agencies, policy makers and partner institutions to create a transparent, fair and efficient land governance ecosystem for all Ugandans.
Addressing Uganda's Land Crisis
Land disputes are among the leading causes of poverty, conflict and insecurity in Uganda. Millions of bonafide occupants — particularly in Busoga, Bunyoro, Acholi, Lango and Karamoja sub-regions — face forced evictions, double-selling and fraudulent land titling despite decades of occupation.
BINOF was established to fill the gap between these communities and the formal land governance system, creating a structured, inclusive and rights-based platform for dialogue, mediation and resolution — before disputes escalate to costly and often ineffective court battles.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
To bridge the gap between bibanja-holders and land titleholders through structured mediation, policy advocacy and community empowerment — ensuring equitable access to land rights and reducing land-related conflicts across Uganda.
Our Vision
A Uganda where land tenure is secure, disputes are resolved amicably, and every bonafide occupant has a clear path to owning their land — free from fraud, conflict and displacement.
